History

The 2500th Anniversary fo the Persian Empire Medal was instituted in 1971 in commemoration of the 2500th anniversary of the founding of the Persian Empire. The Medal is similar in function to the Commemorative Medal of the 25th Century of Iranian Monarch and was awarded to military personnel.

The Medal features a Persian inscription on the reverse which translates to "In Commemoration of the 2500th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Iranian Empire." A small Pahlavi crown emblem is authorized for wear on the ribbon.
