History

The Azarabadegan Medal was established by Mohammad Reza Shah Pavlavi on December 12, 1946. The Medal was created in commemoration of Iran's take over of the Soviet-controlled separatist-democratic state in Iranian Azarabadegan. The Medal was awarded to Iranian military personnel involved in the battle.

There may be an additional version of the Medal which varies by design. More research is needed.
