The Sporting (Tarbiyat Badani) Award was established in 1952 to reward Iranian national champions for sporting achievements. The Award was presented as a Decoration in 2 Classes and as a Medal in 3 Classes. Following the Islamic Revolution in 1979, the Award was abolished.

National champions who have scored in the top 3 ranks in intentional sporting competitions, as well as Olympiads, are eligible for the I Class Medal. Personnel who have already been awarded the II Class Medal for 4 or more years, who have provided meritorious, commendable and enduring service to Iranian sports for 12 continuous years, who manage sporting clubs or coach nationally successful Iranian teams, Olympic gold athletes, or athletes who rank in the top 3 international ranks, or
who have served on the board of the National Iranian Association for Sports Training for 8 continuous years are also eligible for the award.

The I Class Medal had a contingent of 7 members.
