History

The Ba'ath Party Medal was first instituted in 1980 to reward active members of the Ba'ath Party for honour and long service. The Medal was later revised after the Second Gulf War in 1991 and was awarded to members of the Ba'ath Party in recognition of exceptional effort and service provided to the party during the Second Gulf War.

There are 2 versions of the Medal. The first version issued in 1980 is composed of gold and features the old Iraqi flag, while the second version issued since 1991 is composed of bronze gilt and features a different version of the Iraqi flag used between 1991 and 2004.

The second version features an Arabic inscription on the obverse which translates to "7 April" as well as an inscription on the obverse and reverse which translates to "One Arab Nation has One Everlasting Aim."
