The King Faisal Medal for Gallantry (Nut al-Khidmat al-Amma) was instituted by King Faisal I on May 15, 1926. The Medal was awarded in recognition of acts of gallantry in the face of the enemy. The Medal was made obsolete in 1934.
A gold crown emblem was authorized for wear on the ribbon to denote additional qualifying acts of gallantry.
