History

the Ma'an Medal was established by King Hussein I of the Hijaz on May 5, 1918. The Medal was awarded to members of the Arab army and irregular forces in recognition of service in the Battle of Ma'an (present-day Jordan) between April 16 and 22, 1918, which resulted in the Arab victory over Ottoman forces.

The Medal was issued as both an Iraqi and Jordanian award and may also be known as the "Hejaz Kingdom Medal."

The Medal features an Arabic inscription on the obverse which translates to "Ma'an 1337."
