The Medal for the 14 July Revolution, 1958 (Nut Thurdath 17 Tamuz) was instituted in 1964 in commemoration of the Revolution of July 14, 1958, or the 1958 Iraqi coup de'etat, whereby the Hashemite monarchy was overthrown and the Revolutionary Council gained power under the leadership of Brigadier Abd al-Karim Qasim and Colonel Abd al-Salaam Arif.

The Medal features an Arabic inscription on the obverse which translates to "14 July" and on the reverse which translates to "Revolution 14 July 1958."
