The Medal for 17 July Revolution (Nut Thurath 17 Tamuz) was established in 1968 and awarded in commemoration of the 17 July Revolution in 1968. The 17 July Revolution resulted in the exile of General Abd al-Rahman Arif, as well as General Ahmad Hassan al-Bakr and the Ba'ath Party's securement of the control of the Iraqi government, consolidated the Ba'ath Party's power.

The Medal features an Arabic inscription on the obverse which translates to "Medal 17 July 1968."
