History

The Medal for the Palestine War 1948-1949 (Nut Herb Filistin 1948-1949) was established in 1959. The Medal was awarded after the revolution of 1958 to reward members of the Palestine Brigade of the Iraqi Army and other associated Iraqi military personnel for service in the Arab-Isreal War of 1948-1949.

The Medal features an Arabic inscription on the obverse which translates to "We Are Coming Back", as well as on the reverse which translates to "The Iraqi Republic."
