History

The Order of the Hashemites (Wisam al-Hashimi) was instituted by King Faisal I in 1932. The Order was originally conferred in a Single Class to heads of state and senior royals. However, it is thought that a II Class was added to the Order by King Faisal II and was presented to princes of the Hashemite and foreign royal houses. A notable recipient of the Order includes Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. The Order was made obsolete in 1958 upon the fall of the Kingdom of Iraq.

The II Class Badge was worn from a sash. It is uncertain if a Breast Star was issued in addition to the Sash Badge for the II Class award. More research is needed.
