History


The Police Service Medal (Itur HaSherut) was established by the Law of Decorations of the Israel Police and Prison Service in 1972 or 1974. The Medal is awarded by the Cheif Commissioner in recognition of distinguished service made to the Israel Police. Qualifying service includes outstanding contributions to the achievement of the goals of the police accomplished through a single outstanding act, perseverance, or exemplary dedication.

The Medal may have been awarded posthumously.

Additional awards are denoted by clasps worn on the ribbon.
