The Prison Service Medal of Courage (Itur HaOmets) was established by the Law of Decorations of the Israel Police and Prison Service in 1975. The Medal is awarded by the Prison Service Commissioner to members of the Israel prison service for acts of extraordinary gallantry demonstrated in the line of duty and which involve the risk of personal life or safety. The Medal is similar to the Police Medal for Courage.

The Medal may also be awarded posthumously.
