History


The Medal for the Great Ramadan War (Midalat al-Harb Ramadan al-Mubaraqa) was instituted by King Hussein on January 1, 1974. The Medal was awarded to all ranks of the Jordanian Armed Forces in recognition of service in the Third Arab-Israeli War, or the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

The obverse features Arabic script which translates to "In Commemoration of the Great Ramadan Battle. The Sixth Day of Ramadan 1393 Sixth Day of October 1973 AD."
