History

The Order of Military Merit (Wisam al-Istahqaq) was established by King Hussein in 1976 as an awarded for service in defence related matters. The Order is awarded in 5 Classes to members of the Jordanian Armed Forces in recognition of distinguished service. Civilian personnel who have demonstrated exceptional service in defending the nation may also be eligible for the award.

The IV Class Officer is awarded to lieutenant colonels and majors.

The Officer is worn from a breast ribbon which features a rosette.
