History

The Order of Kuwait (Wisam al-Kuwait) was instituted by Emir Sabah bin Salim al-Sabah by Government Decree on July 16, 1974. The Order is conferred in 8 Classes in recognition of outstanding service to the nation or for acts of bravery. Crown princes, prime ministers, ministers and ambassadors, as well as other Kuwaiti nations and foreigners who provided qualifying service are eligible for the award of the Order.

The Order may also be awarded posthumously.

The IV Class Decoration features a ribbon rosette.

The Decoration features an Arabic inscription on the obverse which translates to "State of Kuwait," as well as on the reverse which translates to "Order of Kuwait Fourth Class."

There are 2 versions of the Decoration which vary by design according to modifications made to the Order following the liberation of Kuwait in 1991.
