History

The Medal of the Emigrant was instituted on December 30, 2000 and is issued in one class. It is worn from a neck ribbon. The medal is awarded to those who have spent at least ten years abroad and have held a distinguished job in a foreign country that served Lebanon. In exceptional cases, the Medal of the Emigrant may be awarded to someone who has not spent over ten years abroad.

The Medal of the Emigrant can be awarded posthumously.
