The Endurance Medal (Midalit al-Samood) was instituted by Sultan Qaboos in 1976 in commemoration of the end of the Dhofar Rebellion. The Medal is issued to Oman military personnel in recognition of 30 days or more of service during the Dhofar Rebellion between May 23, 1965 and December 2, 1975. The award may also be known as the As-Samood Medal.

The obverse features an inscription in Arabic, translated as "Sultan Qaboos bin Said" and "Sultan of Oman". The reverse features an inscription in Arabic which translates to "Medal for Endurance".
