History

The Sultan's Gallantry Medal (Midal al-Bisalat al-Sutaniat) was instituted by Sultan Said bin Taimur in October, 1960. The Medal is awarded in recognition of supreme acts of gallantry performed in the face of the enemy.

A clasp is authorized for wear on the ribbon to denote subsequent acts of gallantry.
