History

The Sultan Qaboos Order for Culture, Science and Art (Wisam Litaqafat wa al-'Aloom al-Sultan Qaboos) was established by Sultan Qaboos bin Said in 1990. The Order is issued in 3 Classes and an award for meritorious service and innovative achievements in the fields of science, culture, art, and education.

The I Class Decoration features both an Arabic and English inscription on the obverse which reads "SULTAN QABOOS ORDER ORDER FOR SCIENCE CULTURE AND ART."

The I Class Decoration is worn by men by a breast ribbon and by women from a bow from the shoulder.
