History

The Order of Al Said (Wisam Al-Said) was originally instituted by Faisal bin Turki, Sultan of Muscat and Oman, in 1913 and named "Wisam ud-Daula al-Saidi al-Omaniya." The Order was modified and renamed in 1982 by Sultan Qaboos, prior to the Sultan's visit to the United Kingdom. It is believed that the Order was originally issued in multiple grades, but more information is necessary to confirm. The Order is currently conferred as Oman's highest honour in a single grade; consisting of a Collar, Sash Badge, and Breast Star.

The Sash Badge features an Arabic inscription on the obverse which translates to "Sultanate of Oman."
