History

The Order of Oman (Wisam Al-Oman) was instituted following Sultan Qaboo's accession to the throne on July 23, 1970. The Order was originally conferred in 5 Classes to both civil and military personnel, however, the Order was amended in 1982 and the Honourable Order of Oman (Wisam Al-Sharif Al-Oman) was added as a Special Class.

The IV Class Officer is worn from a ribbon which features a rosette.

There are 2 versions of the Officer which vary by design according to service recognized. Officers awarded in recognition of civil service feature a design of a crescent moon while Officers awarded for military service feature a design of the Oman emblem on the obverse. The Officer also varies by enamel design; with Badges awarded to civilians featuring white enamel and Badges awarded to military personnel featuring red enamel.

There may be additional versions which differ by composition.
