History

The Order of the Renaissance of Oman (Wisam Nahdat Oman) was instituted in 1972 or 1974 by Sultan Qaboos. The Order was originally issued in 4 Classes, however, a special class referred to as The Supreme, or the Exalted, Order of the Renaissance of Oman (Wisam Nahisat Oman al-Ali) was added in 1982. The Order is bestowed as Oman's third highest honour to both foreigners and citizens in recognition of significant contributions made to the development of the nation. It is uncertain if the Order is still currently conferred.

The I Class Badge is worn from a sash and issued with a Breast Star.

The I Class Badge features an Arabic inscription on the obverse which translates to "Sultan Qaboos bin Sad The Order of Renaissance of Oman 1974."
