History

The King Abdulaziz al-Saud Decoration was established by King Saud ibn Abdulaziz in 1955 in commemoration of the first monarch of Saudi Arabia. The Decoration was awarded in 5 Grades to Officers of the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces in recognition of distinguished service and outstanding achievements in the field of combat. Officers who have demonstrated excellent efficiency during peacetime may also be eligible for the award. The Decoration became obsolete by 1971.

The I Class Breast Star is awarded with a Sash Badge to general grade Officers.

The I Class Breast Star features an Arabic inscription on the obverse which translates to "There is No God but God and Muhammad is His Messenger."

Recipients of the I Class were entitled to a one-time monetary award of 6000 Saudi Riyal (approximately $1600) and a monthly stipend of 400 Saudi Riyal (approximately $105).
