History

The King Saud Star was instituted by King Saud idn Abdulaziz in 1955. The Star was awarded in 2 Classes to members of the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces in recognition of great service or excellent deeds which resulted in glory for the recipient. The award was made obsolete by 1971.

The I Class Star was awarded to military personnel of the rank of lieutenant colonel or above. The I Class features a ribbon rosette.

Recipients of the I Class were entitled to a one-time monetary award of 5000 Saudi Riyal (approximately $1335) and a monthly stipend of 200 Saudi Riyal (approximately $55).
