History

The Gulf Co-operation Council Medal was instituted around 1981. The Medal was awarded in 2 Classes to members of the Federal Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates in recognition of service provided in support of the Gulf Co-operation Council. The Gulf Co-operation Council was established on May 25, 1981, as a political and economic union composed of member forces of the UAE, which coordinates resistance to potential outside interventions.

The II Class Star is believed to be composed of silver metal, however, more research is necessary.

There may be additional versions of the Medal which vary by design, but more research is needed to confirm.
