History

The Somalia Peace Keeping Force Medal, 1993 was instituted in 1993 and was awarded to all troops who participated in the Somali Peace Keeping Force between January 1993 and April 1994 in Mogadishu. Civilians and foreigners may also be eligible for the award in recognition of beneficial contributions to the United Arab Emirates deployment.

The Medal features an Arabic inscription on the obverse which translates to "Somalia 1993" as well as on the reverse which translates to "The United State of the United Arab Emirates Peace Keeping Force."
