History

The Emirates Military Order was instituted in 1987 and is presented in 5 Classes to members of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces in recognition of distinguished service to the nation. Personnel who were lost or captured while serving in the military as well as foreigners may also be eligible for the award.

The I Class is conferred upon major generals and equivalent ranking civilians, such as ministers.

The I Class Decoration may also be awarded with a Breast Star, however, additional research is necessary to verify.

The obverse features an Arabic inscription which translates to "The Emirates Military Order."

Recipients of the I Class are also entitled to a monetary award of AED 30000 (approximately US $8000).
