History

The Commissioner’s Commendation for Bravery- QLD is an award in the state of Queensland independent honours system. It is awarded to Police Officers who demonstrate outstanding bravery in perilous circumstances. It is awarded when a Commissioner’s Certificate does not adequately reward an act of valour. Such acts of valour include but are not limited to: arresting or attempting to arrest suspects with firearms, hostage negotiations, and intervening in suicide situations.

The Commendation is a clasp with a circular centre that features the Maltese cross and crown. The clasp is inscribed with ‘FOR BRAVERY.’ The insignia is attached to a ribbon with alternating stripes of silver and maroon, with slim blue stripes on the edges. The Commendation is accompanied with an illuminated scroll.

A clasp or a rosette is awarded to signify additional awards.
