The President’s Medal was instituted by the President of Fiji, Ratu Josefa Iloilovatu Uluivuda, by the Honours and Awards Act on March 8, 1995. The Fiji Honours System was established to promote national unity and to celebrate outstanding contributions made in service of the State.
The Medal may be awarded posthumously and clasps may be awarded for subsequent awards. Recipients are entitled to the post-nominal letters PM.
