History

The New Zealand Traffic Service Medal was established by Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of New Zealand by Royal Warrant on December 22, 1998. It is awarded to both local and government traffic enforcement personnel in recognition of 14 years of service. Only personnel who served from 1987 to July 1, 1992 are eligible for the award.

Clasps were awarded for each additional 7 years of service. For each clasp, a silver rosette may be added to the ribbon when worn alone.

The Silver Medal features the recipient’s name engraved on the rim.
