The Queen’s Medal for Champion Shots of the New Zealand Naval Forces was established by Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of New Zealand by Royal Warrant on July 9, 1958. It was awarded on an annual basis to the champion shot in the New Zealand Navy from 1958-1989.

The year of the award is inscribed on a clasp. Subsequent awards are recognised by further clasps.

The Silver Medal features the recipient’s name engraved on the rim.
