This Medal was established by Emperor Haile Selassie I in 1966 in commemoration of the victory against the Italian occupation in 1941. It was awarded to those who participated in efforts to restore Ethiopian freedom and independence.

The obverse features an inscription in Amharic, translated as "1933, year of mercy, victory 25th year commemoration, Omedla."
