History

This Order was resurrected in 1966 by King Hassan II as an expanded version of the previous obsolete Order of the Military (See MAR102).

It was conferred in recognition of meritorious military service. It was awarded to senior commanders and officers of the Armed Forces, and members of the police force and auxiliary services in positions of command, instruction or preparation of national defence in police forces and auxiliary services.

The Grand Cordon class was limited to 10 recipients.
