The Order of the Green Crescent was established by the Royal House of the Comoros in 1965 and was reorganised in 1992. It is conferred upon Comorian citizens in recognition of meritorious civil or military service. The President of the Union acts as Grand Master.
The reverse medallion features an inscription that translates to "Green Crescent of the Comoros."
