History

This cross was conferred upon members of the Venda Defence Force in recognition of gallantry.

The Venda Defence Force was formed in September 1982 and was assimilated into the South African National Defence Force in April 1994; therefore, the Venda Defence Force decorations and medals became discontinued in April 1994.
