History

This Order is conferred upon the current President of Tanzania.

It was founded during Tanzania's 50th Anniversary of Independence celebrations to honour the previous Presidents of Tanzania. It is considered the highest ranking award within Tanzania's Honour System.

This Order is also known as the "National Order of the Star of the United Republic of Tanzania".
