History

The Medal for the Bravest (Medalha Aos Mais Bravos) was awarded during the Triple Alliance War in recognition of the outstanding military merit displayed by Officers of the Royal Army in battlefield.

This Medal was authorized with three grades according to the rank of the recipient. The Gold Medal was awarded to Officer, while the Silver Medal was conferred upon enlisted men. Likely the Bronze Medal was granted to civilians.

Some version feature a maker's mark RD (Roberto Depaux).
