History


The WW I Campaign Cross of 1917-18 was instituted by the republican government of Brazil in 1921, to reward Brazilian civil and military personnel who served in the First World War.

The Medal is founded in two version, bronze and bronze gilt. When the medal is awarded to recognize combat duties (bronze gilt) is accompanied by a orange ribbon that consists of three black vertical stripes, two on the edges and one in the center. When it is awarded to recognize auxiliary services (bronze), the ribbon associated with this medal is orange with three white vertical stripes, two on the edges and one in the center.
