Physical Description


The Medal consists of an octagon medal with an engraved figure of Minerva on the obverse. This image is accompanied by two laurel branches for War Academies, and by a laurel branch and a sword for Polytechnic Academies.

History


The Minerva Medal was instituted to reward Officers of the Chilean Armed forces who have graduated of their military institutions.

Six medals were authorized for each of these Chilean military institutions. The design of the Medal is the same, however, the inscription represents the name of the corresponding institution.
