History


The Medal for the Winners of Chunchanga (Medalla para los Vencedores de Chuchanga) was authorized in 1822 to reward the revolutionary troops who defeated a Spanish royalist forces in the Battle of Chuchanga in 1822.

The Medals were authorized with three classes; with Gold bullion for Generals, Silver Bullion for Officers, and white bullion for enlisted men.

The Medal features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "The Fatherland to the Winners of Chuchanga.”
