History


The Indian Uprising Medal (Medalla por un Triunfo sobre una División de Indios Chilenos Sublevados) was authorized by the Province of Buenos Aires on October 5, 1837. It was awarded to Officers and men who participated in the expedition under the command of Colonel Antonio Ramírez at the same year, where they defeated a large Indian troops.

It is not clear if the composition denotes the rank of the recipient.

This Medal features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "The Recognized Government to Virtue and Martial Value,” and a reverse inscription that can be translated to “Victory against to a Strong Division of Chilean Indian Enemies, Buenos Aires October 2, 1837.”
