History


The Lieutenant M. Gonzalez Medal (Medalla para el Teniente M. Gonzalez) was authorized by the Paraná government rewarded to Lieutenant Miguel Gerónimo Gonzalez and his troops who protected General Urquiza, meanwhile they were fighting at Cagancha, Entre Rios on January 1, 1840.

The Medal features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "The Entre Rios Province to Fidelity and Heroism," and a reverse inscription that can be translated to "Long Live to Argentinian Federation, Death for the Savages Unitarians."
