History

The Commemorative Medal to Campaign Desert Survivors (Medalla Conmemorativa a los Sobrevivientes de la Campaña del Desierto) was authorized by a semi-official veterans organization, and it was sanctioned by the Argentine government in 1929. It was established in honor of the military personnel killed during the Desert Campaigns. It was awarded to the heirs of those who died in battle.

The Medal features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "Republic of Argentina, Military Center of the Army and Naval Army, Desert Expeditionary," and a reverse inscription that can be translated to “The Survivors Doing a Homage to the Killed Comrades for the Civilization and Progress 1929.”
