The Tucumán Medal (Medalla Tucumán Sepulcro de la Tiranía) was authorized by the government of Salta in 1812. It was awarded in recognition of the national hero General Manuel Belgrano and his troops who defeated Spanish forces in Tucumán, Campo de las Carreras, in the same year. This battle allowed to unify the revolutionary army in the northern provinces.
It is not clear if the composition of the Medal corresponds to a specific rank.
The Medal features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "Tucuman, Sepulcher of the Tyranny," and a reverse inscription that can be translated to " Under the Protection of Our Lady of Mercedes, She is the General of the Victorious Army, September 24, 1812."
