History


The Potosi Medal (Medalla de Potosí) was established by the Bolivian government of José Maria Linares, in recognition of the troops who supported his revolution in 1857 that resulted in the deposition of the President General Jorge Córdoba and the beginning of his dictatorial rule.

It is known several designs of this Medal.

It is not clear if the composition of the Medal denotes the rank of the recipient.

José Maria Linares himself awarded the Medal.
