History

The Medal for 1865 (Medalla por 1865) was authorized by the Bolivian government of General Manuel Mariano Melgarejo in recognition of the troops who suppressed several rebellions throughout 1865.

It is not clear if the composition of the Medal denotes the rank of the recipient.

The Medal features an obverse inscription that can be translate to "General Melgarejo to Courage and Loyalty of the Defenders of the Cause of December 1865," and a reverse inscription that translates to "December 28, January 31, March 27, September 5."
