History

The Order of Trujillo (Orden Heráldica de Trujillo) was established on June 13, 1938, in honour of then-President Rafael Trujillo. It was conferred upon civilians and military personnel for loyal service to the nation and extraordinary accomplishments related to Trujillo's cause in the country.

The Order was awarded with seven grades; Collar, I Class Grand Cross (with gilded breast star), II Class Grand Cross (with silvered breast star), Grand Officer, Commander, Officer, and Knight. The Order was rescinded on December 6, 1961, right after Trujillo's assassination.

In MedalBook, the Order is classified into types; Type I includes the Civil Division awards, while Type II includes the Military Division awards.

For Civil Division, the I Class Grand Cross was awarded to the current president, foreign heads of state and Hereditary Princes; the II Class Grand Cross was awarded to former presidents, vice presidents, members of legislatures and supreme court, ministers, ambassadors and the metropolitan archbishop; the Grand Officer was awarded to high officials of government and church; the Commander was awarded to governors of provinces, directors general of instruction, authors and others of similar importance; the Officer was awarded to professors and heads of schools; and Knight was awarded to others not in any of the above category.
