The Royal Bahamas Defence Force Cross is awarded by the Governor-General on the recommendation of the Minister in recognition of members of the Defence Force who have demonstrated outstanding heroism, thus distinguishing themselves from their peers.
Recipients can be awarded the Cross for displaying bravery while serving against an enemy of the Bahamas; while engaged in a conflict involving a foreign force; or while serving alongside friendly foreign forces.
The obverse of the Cross features a white fowl anchor, while the reverse features the inscription “DEFENCE FORCE CROSS, RBDF”. The name, rank, and initials of the recipient are engraved on the decoration. The red, white, and green ribbon has a silver clasp inscribed with “THE BAHAMAS”, with an additional clasp inscribed with the name of the campaign.
