Physical Description and Item Details


In pickled copper, voided, measuring 40.5 mm (w) x 47.8 mm (h), both lugs intact, scattered wear in the pickling, near extremely fine.

History


This badge was worn by members of the 163rd Infantry Battalion.

The Battalion was raised in Quebec, with mobilization headquarters at Montreal under the authority of G.O. 151, December 22, 1915. On May 24, 1916 the Battalion was moved to Bermuda for garrison duty. On November 27, 1916 the Battalion sailed for England under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel H. DesRosiers with a strength of 38 officers and 822 other ranks. In England, the Battalion was absorbed into the 10th Reserve Battalion. It was disbanded on September 15, 1920.
