History


The Order was conferred upon Cubans and foreign citizens for exceptional military merit, but it is can also be awarded to recognize other services.

When the Order was awarded to recognize other services the colour of the cross' enamel and ribbon change.

When the Order is awarded to recognize Military Merit, the cross and the ribbon are Dark Red.

When the Order is awarded to recognize Bravery in Combat, the cross and the ribbon are Purple.

When the Order is awarded to recognize Humanitarian Acts, the cross and the ribbon are Half Red and Half White.

When the Order is awarded to recognize Good Conduct, the cross and the ribbon are Blue.

When the Order is awarded to recognize Continuous Service, the cross and the ribbon are Half Blue and Half White.
